ALONG CAME A BOSNIAN // CHAPTER ONE
August 15th, 2015.
Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Cruise Line.
My family thought a 7 day cruise vacation would be the perfect reward for freshly graduated high schooler. Little did we know that on that cruise, I would meet my future husband! I truly was not prepared for this moment. Here’s how it all went down. Me, my mom and my nanny were sitting to a small table between the pool and the bar enjoying the sun and fresh air before we departed from the cruise port. My mother keeps telling me one of the photographers keeps eyeing me down when I would turn my head. She let’s out a laugh when one of them trips on a chair while staring at me. I immediately dismissed her statement because if anything I had enough confidence to fit into my back pocket. Shortly after her comment on the situation two photographers are standing right in front of us. One looking very excited to be done with the shift and the other, rather tall, looking like a kid in a candy store. The tall guy introduces himself as Senadin. With every word he speaks you can tell he is not lacking in the confidence department. He continues to ask for our names. And With every word I speak I can feel my cheeks begin to heat up and it becomes nearly impossible to hide my very visible blush. They quickly continue to pose us for a picture. Senadin being cheesy saying beautiful with every click of his camera. And with that he tells me “I’ll definitely be seeing you around”. And is gone just as quick as he came. I’m left asking my mom, “Do you think he liked me?” “Could you see my blush?” “He was handsome, wasnt he!”.

The next couple of times we met were pretty intense and interesting. The first times we crossed path were caused by my casual walk bys. You know the scene in the corny 80’s movies were the dorky guy walks by the hot popular girl in school? With each time he passes, he talks himself up. Building courage up little by little with each pass by. Well it was like that expect I was the nerdy guy and Senadin was the total babe! There was one occasion were my mom literally drag me to Senadin dropped me off right in front of him and said, “you two get to know each other while I’m in the casino.” It was hands down the most embarrassing situation to happen in my life.

The next night my family and I decided to go to the comedy club for some stand up comedy. I being the stand up connoisseur I am, was pretty pumped to watch an act. Before the comedian went on, the MC of the club invited anyone to come up on stage. Right before she made the announcement, I saw Senadin and a couple of the fellow photographers come in. Before I could even register what I was doing, I was up on stage with 6 other people. The MC informs us to show our best dance move. Of course me being the spunky 19 year old my best dance move was the infoumous “twerk”. Now let me remind you this is when the twerk movement was full swing. I twerked on stage in front of 100 people just to get the attention of Senadin. This was far out of my comfort zone.

The next day was a port day. I spent most of the day lounging on a sun bed in the Caribbean sun. Living my best life possible. When we got back on the ship my mom, grandmom and I made a bee line for the photographers. Of course I had a specific one in mind. We were next in line with only one couple ahead of us getting their photos taken. The gentleman was on one knee and the lady in total shock of what was happening. A proposal right in front of Senadin and me! Of course when it was our turn Senadin very confidently said “that was nothing, just wait till you see how I’m going to propose to you!”. Of course I looked like a sun burnt tomato. We continued talked for couple of minutes and decided the next day in Nassau we would meet up for half the day.
